How to get there?

Med Pitiusa, Trasmapi Baleària and Aquabus offer a 30-minute ferry service from Ibiza town to La Savina on Formentera. Baleària also offers a direct ferry service from Palma, Mallorca. You can book the trip online, but you can also buy the tickets directly at the port.

What to do?

Explore the green routes

There are 130 km of hiking and cycling routes, known as green routes that cross the island and connect the colorful towns. As Formentera is mostly flat, walking and cycling through the incredible landscape and sandy slopes is a spectacle. Breathe in its warm, salty air as you wander through the Sabin Dunes, wheat fields, pine forests, and verdant vineyards. You can also explore Pla de La Mola, passing by ancient stone walls and sheep that take refuge under giant fig trees, hidden coves and the emblematic lighthouses of the island.

Enjoy a birdwatching session

As Formentera is located in the middle of Africa and Europe, thousands of migratory birds arrive during the spring and autumn, attracted by the diversity of ecosystems and lagoons on the island. Begin your bird watching in the Ses Salines d’Eivissa i Formentera Natural Park, which stretches from the south of Ibiza to the north of Formentera. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded in this park, including brilliant flamingos, puffins, and woodpeckers. Similarly, you can take a boat trip to the islets of Freus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the protected Posidonia seagrass meadows. Also visit the Estany Pudent lagoon, a historic salt pan.

Have fun with water activities

With 69 kilometers of pristine coastline with crystal clear waters and white sand, water sports abound. Activities for all levels include scuba diving, snorkeling and kayaking or just taking a boat ride. For lovers of diving, the islands of Espalmador and S’Espardell are the perfect place; while the beaches of Ses Illetes and Migjorn are ideal for practicing paddle surfing, kayaking and snorkeling. Sailing from Cala Saona to the red cliffs of Punta Rasa and the underwater caves is a must.

Which beaches to visit?

S’Alga, S’Espalmador Island

The 40-minute round trip from La Savina to the quiet private island of S’Espalmador is ideal for relaxing between the coast of S’Alga and the coves of Cala de Bocs and Sa Torretal.

Llevant

On the Trucadors peninsula is the wild Playa de Llevant, within the Ses Salines Natural Park. Surprise yourself with dunes, wooden paths and forests.

Cove saona

This cove surrounded by cliffs, pine trees and picturesque wooden boats has an incredible sandy beach and a bar that offers drinks and snacks. Climb the red rocks for stunning ocean views or visit the high cliffs of Punta Rasa by boat.

Pacha House Formentera
